Fast Talk

Speak.It’s written.

Fast Talk turns what you say into clean text, right where you’re typing, on Mac and iPhone.

Wherever your cursor is.

Reply in Mail, answer in Slack, leave a comment in your code. Fast Talk pastes the text right where you were typing.1

Get to know Fast Talk.

Your key. Even just one.

Use a key combination, a single modifier like Fn or Right Option, any F-key from F1 to F20, or the middle, back or forward button on your mouse. Nothing is set until you choose it.1

Press esc twice to cancel.

Press a modifier, an F-key or a shortcut to try it.

Only what you didn’t mean to say.

Fast Talk removes hesitations and the words you took back, and fixes sentence endings and capitals. Your words, numbers and negations stay exactly as you said them, in the language you said them. If clean-up runs slow, you get your own words instead of a wait.

Highlight Changes shows exactly what clean-up removed. Restore Original puts it back.

It reads the room.

Each mode knows which apps it belongs to, so dictation starts in the right one. With context awareness on, Fast Talk also reads the window you’re in, so a reply fits the thread it answers.2

Hi Sam,

The export button on the Settings page doesn’t work when you’re offline. Can we fix it before Friday?

Thanks

One idea, dictated in six apps. The mode changes on its own each time.

It learns how you write.

Correct a name or rewrite a greeting, and Fast Talk remembers it. Everything it picks up is listed in Memory, where you can change it, pause it or delete it. Anything you delete, it won’t learn again.3

Right at the notch.

On a MacBook with a notch, Fast Talk tells you what it’s doing from inside it. It grows just enough to show a recording, a saved note or notes that are ready, then gets out of the way.6

CallRecord

While you record a note, say “Hey Fast Talk, draft a follow-up email.” The notch shows it heard you, and after you finish, the draft appears in the note’s Artifacts.

Everything else, built in.

  • 60 languages. Speak any of 60 languages. Choose yours, or let Fast Talk detect them.4

  • Your clipboard, as you left it. Copy a link, dictate a sentence, then paste. You get the link.7

  • Speak Turkish. Paste English. Give a mode an output language. You see your words as you speak, then the translation.4

  • Lose the connection, not your words.

  • Never into a password field.

  • Start it from Spotlight or Siri.

  • Drop in a recording. Audio and video files become notes in the background.

  • Music steps aside.

  • Share a note as a link.

  • Your library, in iCloud.

  • Lock a note with Touch ID.

  • Coming from VoiceInk? Bring your history, vocabulary and replacements with you.

Your meetings, written down.

Fast Talk notices when a call starts, records you and everyone else from your Mac, and writes it up as a note. Turn on Note Intelligence and it adds a summary and action items. Nobody new joins the call.10

Questions and answers.

No. While you dictate, your audio is sent to Soniox, a cloud speech service, and the text comes back as you speak. When you finish, the text goes to Fast Talk’s clean-up service and comes back; if that’s slow, you get the raw text instead. Fast Talk asks you to agree to the audio processing the first time you open it. Audio and transcripts are never sent to crash or telemetry services. Your recordings and your Library are stored on your Mac.

Fast Talk saves your audio before it transcribes it. If the network drops, the recording is kept and is transcribed when you’re back online or the next time you open Fast Talk. That text goes to your Library rather than being pasted, so it never lands somewhere unexpected.

Only hesitations like “um”, the words you corrected yourself (“Tuesday, no, Thursday”), sentence endings and capitals. It doesn’t reword, summarize or translate. In the Library, Highlight Changes shows every edit, and Restore Original brings back exactly what was heard. If clean-up takes too long, you get the raw text instead.

Fast Talk needs macOS 26.5 or later.

The microphone, to hear you. Accessibility, to paste where you’re typing and to use a single key like Fn as your shortcut. Paste from Other Apps, to put your clipboard back. For meetings, Screen & System Audio Recording to hear the other people on the call, and your calendar to suggest meetings. Everything except the microphone is optional, and Fast Talk asks when you first need it.

No. Fast Talk records your microphone and your Mac’s audio on your Mac, so nobody new appears in the call. As with any recording, let people know when you record them.

Full Access lets the keyboard receive your dictation from Fast Talk. iOS shows a warning for every keyboard that asks for it. Without Full Access the keyboard still types normally; it just can’t dictate.

iOS doesn’t let keyboards use the microphone, so the Fast Talk app records for the keyboard. After your first dictation, the microphone stays ready for up to five minutes, so the next ones start right in the text field. Your text streams into the field either way.

Five minutes of speech a day on each device, resetting every day. A network shares a limit of 50 minutes a day. Pro removes the daily limit. If you hit the limit mid-dictation, what you said so far is kept.

Your audio goes to the speech service for transcription, as with dictation. Summaries, action items and Ask This Note are opt-in: when you turn on Note Intelligence, the transcript text and speaker labels are sent to Fast Talk’s cloud service. Your recording and voice profiles stay on your Mac.
